Successful ILA Conference on October 7, 2010 in Berlin

The ILA President, Dr. Gernot Schaefer, welcomed more than 160 ILA members and guests to the ILA Conference on October 7, 2010, at the Melia Hotel in Berlin. This year's conference was organized as an Information Exchange Forum and focused on important legislative and regulatory issues which have a great impact on the lime business.

The key topics Climate Change, Chemical Policy and Sustainability were intensively discussed in three sessions. The discussion was opened with a short review of the developments in the different regions of the world. All presentations are available on the ILANET.

On the same day, the annual meeting of the ILA Executive Committee took place. Main focus was on the report and retrospective by Dr. Gernot Schaefer, the adoption of the new by-laws and the election of the new ILA President, Vice President and the Board of Directors.

As ILA President, Wayne Kenefick, Canada, and as Vice President, Dr. Herbert Müller-Roden, Germany, were elected unanimously. The term of office will start on January 1, 2011. All resolutions of the meeting are summarized in the minutes which were distributed to all ILA members.

As post conference tour, the participants visited a modern lignite-fired power station with the world's first "CO2-free" oxyfuel facility (CCS) in pilot scale at "Schwarze Pumpe" near Cottbus.
